DAWN

September 2nd, 2006 by ivyscruz

Picture1_007The sleeping Sun, I heard, is up and out

That’s one thing I am glad to hear about

For yesterday when bitter twilights bite

I stood outside and looked but no one’s in sight

-

Like snows that cover the hills and plains

I knew warmer days will soon come my way

Why God hath made the stark winter cold

If summer wouldn’t come to heal afterall?

-

The eastern sparrows and mocking- birds too

One morning they’d sing me a happy song or two

Soon, rivers melt and leaves get wet with dew

As the breeze softly whispers of a life anew!

SHADOWS

September 2nd, 2006 by ivyscruz

Picture1_378

It was many ordinary summer nights ago

When the skylark spelled a tragic song of woe

And poured grief into the cup, it overflowed

Heaven and earth collided everywhere I go.

-

Along came rays of bitter-sweet farewell

That kissed the daring quest of a life’s frail end

And every shallow breath that rose and fell

Were shattered fragments spewed from gates of hell.

-

Oh mortal as you are - I died that day!

My bones were torn and flesh succumbed in sweet decay

My spirit drifted through some million miles away

And wept in solitude, I searched in vain all day.

-

The moon soon flashed a quite familiar glow

To gaze upon reminds me of a face I know

His subtle radiance drenched my restless soul

In peaceful slumber He lulled me all night long.

-

And all on Earth, they say, shall fade away

But not the living wisps of moon- beams in my hands

Like an artist’s faultless strokes on white damask

The legacies of my ornately rigid past.

CHARMED

September 2nd, 2006 by ivyscruz

Picture1_155_2Empty pathways puffed with dust,

Sleepy cobwebs sewn too fast,

Faucets blanched by aging rust,

Roses burnt in summer gusts…

-

These and slits on stuccoed walls,

Glanced at dreary stranger’s call,

Chimes soon echoed thru the halls,

And found you standing at my door!

Picture1_359My life is like an ocean:

Complex and hard to understand.

Sometimes it feels l’m its entirety;

Another time - a grain of useless sand.

-

I could be the bubbly soaring wave!

Or maybe just a shy receding ebb.

Soft winds are my sweet caress

And storms can be my scathing jests.

-

Bright sunrise - my eternal peace.

Pale moonbeams are my glorious sheath.

Yes indeed, I am an ocean!

Vast, deep, and hard to understand.

-

Dear friend now tell me…you are what?!

Picture1_393_1I revere every human being as if they were my own siblings.

My patience is as thick as the surviving columns of the Parthenon.

I know that lots of people are willing to forgive but not forget.

I can do both, unconditionally.

No ifs.

No buts.

Unconditionally.

Never to close my door to anyone, that’s my intention.

Your shortcomings I would never take against you.

I see every man’s worth better than his flaws or imperfections.

And if this is wrong, then so be it.

I love my friends as they are.

They mean everything to me.

Everything.

And I mean everything.

Hurt them and you’ll piss me off.

I swear you’d never like me when I am.

I demand…

Respect.
